“When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary.
. .”
It has become necessary!
The War Economy is bleeding us. We can’t afford and we won’t
accept Permanent War. Seven decades on a continuous wartime footing makes no
sense. Too many lives are being sacrificed. Too many enemies are being created.
The economic and environmental costs are unacceptable. It’s time to draw a line
and say “ENOUGH!”
Please plan to join us at 1 p.m., Wednesday, July 4
at the war monuments in front of the Boone County Courthouse. We plan a short
gathering, including the reading of a Declaration of Independence from the War
Economy. Several of us will be in costume, wearing garb similar to the
colonials who issued the original Declaration. The topic is most serious, but
we also plan for this to be a positive, fun event, and really hope you will
carve out a small piece of your holiday to join in this.
We also are looking for folks who might be willing to help
bring the declaration to the evening gatherings at Flat Branch and Peace Park,
between 6:30 and 8:30 p.m. We’d appreciate it if you would contact us,
either by replying to this post or by calling Mark at 573-875-0539 if you can
participate in the evening.
