Add Your Name for Peace

John Schuder, founder of the signature ad.

For the past 52 years mid-Missouri peace advocates have each year run a signature ad in the Columbia Daily Tribune &/or the Columbia Missourian, marking the anniversary of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, and calling for peace, justice and steps toward nuclear disarmament.

As a result of the shift away from print, we found that, despite costing nearly $2,000, the print ad was not reaching as many people as we'd hoped and its impact was ephemeral, with it rarely being seen after the day of publication.

So, we've decided, instead, to put our peace statement on-line, where it can be viewed seven days a week, all year round.

We are currently in the process of building the site and will announce its launch very soon. In the meantime, if you'd like to read the 2013 version of the statement, please CLICK HERE and, for best viewing, click the download arrow on the left..

We hope you'll want to add your name. You can do this most easily at the moment by sending an e-mail to us at mail@midmopeaceworks.org with the words "Add Me" in the subject line. Please do not add any names without the express permission of the person(s) whose names you send us. All names will be displayed on the new website, but no contact information will be displayed.

If you'd like to collect the names of more folks, including friends, neighbors, work or school colleagues, co-parishioners, etc. we have petition forms that can be downloaded and printed either in 8.5" x 11" or 8.5" x 14". Just click on LETTER or LEGAL then file and download.

If you have any questions, please give us a call at 573-875-0539 or send us an e-mail. Thanks for your help with carrying forward this important peace tradition.
