Now is the
time to register for a new Peaceworks class, “A People’s History
of the United States Movements for Social & Economic Justice.” This
seven-session, Wednesday evening class begins on Sept. 26 and runs through Nov.
28 (taking weeks off for major speakers and Thanksgiving). The class runs from
7- 8:45 p.m.
Using
selected readings from Howard Zinn’s A People’s History of the United States,
this seven-session class will provide insights into people’s struggles for
justice. We will explore the origins of progressive moments, their successes,
their defeats and their ongoing struggles. Understanding the roots of these
movements and their histories is essential for those who hope to effectively
engage as participants in contemporary movements.
Enrollment is open to all. We do ask a $20 registration
fee from community members; $10 for students and those who can’t afford $20. Please
sign up at the Peace Nook. Or you can download a registration form if you CLICK HERE and then mail it in to us. If you have questions, please contact us by e-mail at
